Stop Motion: Keep Going

Process

For this project, I was tasked with creating a stop motion gif with any subject of my choice.

I wanted the message to be positive, and something that would make me smile if I saw it on my social media. So I decided to say, "Hi! I just wanted to tell you that you're doing great. Keep going!" I did so by crumpling up a piece of paper with each saying on it to change from one message to the next. I left some words without color but added color on some words to add emphasis to the message. I used an app on my iPhone called Stop Motion Studio to record the individual frames of the stop motion, while also using a Bluetooth remote to snap each frame from a distance. After recording my stop motion, I brought it into Adobe Photoshop to make some lighting and saturation adjustments to it.

Final Project

Breaking out of the Adobe Creative Suite to create this stop motion was something a bit out of my comfort zone, but the learning curve was not too much to overcome! I’m pleased with the outcome of the project and look back on it as a reminder of what we all needed to hear during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
